You know how sometimes…

May 14, 2008 | bitterness,family,The Office

I’m a big asshat who procrastinates and waits until May 13 to start calling around for childcare and DOH Stacy, places are filled up so now I’m screwing the giant pooch? Yeah.

Directors are laughing at me (LAUGHING!)(AT ME!) (DON’T THEY KNOW I HAVE DOUCHE CARDS I WILL SEND THEM FOR THEIR MOCKERY???) for looking so late in the game…

but but

here’s my (erroneous) thought process: teachers have the summers off, so they probably took their kids out of daycare, so their spots are wide open for the taking. Um, flawed, wishful thinking.

Call me (and yes, I have my hand in the “phone”/call me” shape) if you wanna come watch the Nugget & Jojo. You do, right? Good. Starting June 2! You can eat all the hummus and teddy grahams (not together. unless that’s your thing. I don’t judge.) you can fit in your tummy.

  1. Last night I made a tasty snack out of some Oreos and leftover vanilla frosting and thought of you.

  2. So, yeah, if you don’t mind dropping them by Maryland every morning, I’d be happy to watch them alongside my two.

  3. Oh I wish I could watch them. I would chomp on them all day long.

Hey, you could just be one of those women who stay at home and stuff envelopes for cash all day.

  4. Heck, I’ll make it easier than Bunny. Just bring them to PA every morning, so much closer. I have some vacation time to use up, right?

  5. If you want to drop them off in Ann Arbor….I’m there! I’ll even supply the hummus and Teddy Grahams.

  7. As the wife of a teacher, I can tell you that around here those centers typically make you pay through the summer to keep your place in the fall. So who knows.

  8. Ah, man. I hate daycare woes. And I hate to admit that this teacher keeps her kid in daycare throughout the summer to a) keep his place and b) get some stuff done without a toddler underfoot and c) to keep him in a routine and prevent major first-day-of-school meltdowns (from the both of us)

  9. Jill found our short-term solution through http://www.sittercity.com. They include listings for in-home care, which might be your best bet at this stage.

We have Noah in a home day care from 6 weeks ago when we pulled him out of the scary day care center to next week when he starts at our church. And if we’d found her earlier, we might have left him there.

  10. I cannot help you since I live too far away. But please don’t send me a Douche Card!

  11. Well I am unemployed right now…I don’t think I could hanle the commute though.

  12. Have you considered having someone come to your house? Thats what we have (but I work from home) and i found someone fairly easily on a website. There are quite a few if thats the route you’d be interested in & I can pass along a few suggestions.

  13. If it makes you feel better, I’ve done the same thing…twice.
